About

Horsethief Gulch Campground serves as the main camping facility at Spring Valley State Park in Lincoln County, Nevada. Situated just west of Eagle Valley Reservoir, the campground features 37 developed campsites, with 24 offering electric hookups and some providing both electric and water connections. Each site includes a shade ramada, picnic table, and fire grill. The campground has three restroom facilities, two of which include showers, as well as potable water and an RV dump station. The 59-acre Eagle Valley Reservoir provides excellent opportunities for rainbow, tiger, and German brown trout fishing, along with boating access via the park's boat launch. The surrounding landscape showcases stunning volcanic tuff and sediment formations in shades of light gray, pink, and white. Hiking trails connect various areas of the park, including paths around the reservoir offering scenic valley views. Wildlife viewing is exceptional, with opportunities to spot eagles, hawks, herons, avocets, and occasionally trumpeter swans. Spring Valley State Park also features historic ranch buildings from the late 1800s available for touring. The park's Great Basin desert and riparian environment supports diverse wildlife and plant communities. Additional camping is available at the more primitive Ranch Campground located two miles north, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
