Horsethief Gultch Campground

Horsethief Gulch Campground is the primary camping area at Spring Valley State Park, located in Lincoln County about 20 miles east of Pioche. The campground sits adjacent to Eagle Valley Reservoir, a 65-acre impoundment backed by striking volcanic tuff formations in shades of pink, white, and gray. The reservoir is managed as a put-and-take sport fishery stocked with rainbow trout. The campground features 37 developed sites, with approximately 24 offering electric hookups and some providing water connections. Each site includes a shade ramada for relief from the desert sun, a picnic table, and a fire grill. Three restroom buildings serve the campground, two of which have showers. Potable water and an RV dump station are available on-site. Beyond fishing, visitors can kayak the reservoir, hike trails connecting to the historic Stone Cabin and Ranch Campground areas, or simply enjoy the remote high-desert environment. The park's isolation from urban light pollution makes it an excellent spot for stargazing. Registered and insured OHVs are permitted within the campground area.

From Pioche, Nevada, head east on State Route 322 for approximately 20 miles. The park entrance and Horsethief Gulch Campground are located near Eagle Valley Reservoir.
