About
Rainbow Falls State Park is a 129-acre camping destination situated along the banks of the Chehalis River in southwestern Washington. The park takes its name from a picturesque waterfall visible from a short trail, though the real draw is the old-growth forest and tranquil riverside setting. The Chehalis River offers swimming and freshwater fishing opportunities directly accessible from the campground. The campground provides diverse overnight options: 40 standard tent/RV sites, 8 partial hookup sites with water and electric for RVs up to 60 feet (limited availability), 3 hiker/biker sites, and 2 equestrian sites. A group camp accommodating up to 60 people is available by reservation. Facilities include flush restrooms, token-operated showers, drinking water, a dump station, and fire pits in designated areas. The park serves as a convenient basecamp for the Willapa Hills Trail, a rail-trail popular with cyclists, hikers, and equestrians. A three-mile internal trail system on the south side of the river provides forested hiking through scenic terrain. Horseshoe pits and a reservable kitchen shelter (currently closed for restoration through December 2026) round out the amenities.
Directions
From Chehalis, take Highway 6 west approximately 16 miles. The park entrance is on the south side of Highway 6.
