About

Schafer State Park Campground sits along the beautiful East Fork Satsop River in Mason County, Washington. The park celebrated its centennial in 2024 and received a major expansion that added 30 new campsites to the existing 38, bringing the total to 68 sites. Most campsites feature water and electric hookups, while four walk-in sites offer a more primitive experience. The campground includes modern amenities such as flush restrooms, hot showers, Wi-Fi, drinking water, fire pits, picnic tables, and an RV dump station. The park's structures were rebuilt in National Park Service Rustic style to complement the historic WPA-built structures from the 1930s. A new visitor center greets campers near the entrance. Two miles of hiking trails wind through the cool forest, and the river provides outstanding opportunities for fishing steelhead, cutthroat trout, and salmon. The park also offers kitchen shelters, horseshoe pits, and rustic cabin rentals for those seeking a roofed accommodation.
