Cooper Lake State Park's South Sulphur Unit occupies the southern shore of Cooper Lake in Hopkins County, Texas. The campground offers 42 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups in the Bright Star Loop, 31 sites with 30-amp service in the Deer Haven Loop, and 15 walk-in tent sites in the Oak Grove area. Equestrian campers have dedicated sites with water and electricity, plus access to multi-use trails. Fourteen air-conditioned cabins tucked into the hardwood forests provide an alternative to tent and RV camping. The park features four restroom facilities with showers, a park store selling snacks and renting kayaks, fish cleaning stations, playgrounds, a volleyball court, and a basketball court. Cooper Lake provides quality fishing directly from the bank without requiring a license. Multiple boat ramps serve the lake, though the Honey Creek ramp is currently closed due to low water levels. Both back-in and pull-through sites are available, with ADA-accessible options in each camping loop. The park operates year-round with gates open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Reservations are strongly recommended as the park frequently reaches capacity, especially on weekends and holidays.

From Sulphur Springs, head south on TX-19 then west on FM 3505. The South Sulphur Unit entrance is at 1690 FM 3505, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. Note: Cooper Lake State Park has two separate units, so ensure GPS is directing you to the correct one.
