About
Coffee Mill Campground sits on the north shore of 750-acre Coffee Mill Lake in the Caddo National Grassland, offering a quiet lakeside retreat in northeast Texas. Completed in 1968 with additional construction by volunteers in the early 1990s, the campground provides 13 campsites with boat access to the lake and a fishing pier. The lake was built in the 1930s and remains a popular destination for fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. The campground serves as a basecamp for exploring the surrounding Caddo National Grassland, including access to multi-use trails that wind through forests, lakeshores, and open meadows. Trail 2, a 3.5-mile loop, starts from the campground and circles Coffee Mill Lake. Nearby Lake Davy Crockett offers additional recreation opportunities. The area provides grazing land for cattle and habitat for diverse wildlife, making it excellent for wildlife viewing and photography. Between October 2 and January 2, camping is confined to designated campground areas; primitive dispersed camping is allowed elsewhere on the grasslands during the rest of the year.
