About

Cooper Lake State Park's Doctors Creek Unit sits on Jim Chapman Lake, approximately 90 minutes northeast of Dallas. The 715-acre unit offers just over six miles of scenic shoreline with excellent fishing opportunities. All 42 campsites in the Liberty Grove camping area feature water and electric hookups, picnic tables, outdoor grills, and fire rings. Two premium 50-amp sites accommodate larger RVs, while two premium tent-only sites provide a more secluded experience. The campground includes restrooms with shower facilities, a playground in the camping loop center, and nearby fishing piers. The Lone Pine boat ramp provides water access, and kayak rentals are available for those without their own watercraft. A nature trail winds through the area, and the sand volleyball court and outdoor amphitheater offer additional recreation. Doctors Creek Unit is separate from the South Sulphur Unit across the lake. The park frequently reaches capacity during spring, summer, and fall, so advance reservations are highly recommended.
