About

Lake Tawakoni State Park sits on the western shore of a massive 37,879-acre reservoir in Hunt County, about 50 miles east of Dallas. The 376-acre park preserves oak forests and tallgrass prairies while providing direct access to one of North Texas's premier fishing lakes, known for catfish, bass, and crappie. The park offers 74 campsites across two main loops. The Spring Point Camping Loop features 16 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric, plus 16 additional sites with water and electric only. The White Deer Reach Camping Loop has 44 sites with water and 30 amp electric. Pull-through sites accommodate rigs up to 95 feet, while back-in sites handle up to 59 feet. All sites include a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. Facilities include restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and the Lake Tawakoni Trading Post selling ice, firewood, snacks, and fishing supplies. Kayak rentals are available at a self-service kiosk, and the park headquarters offers loaner fishing gear. Activities include boating, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, birding, and geocaching along trails through the oak woodlands.

Directions

From Dallas, travel east on I-30 to Exit 101 (FM 47). Head north on FM 47 for approximately 8 miles, then turn right onto FM 2475. The park entrance is at 10822 FM 2475, Wills Point, TX 75169.
