About

Sanders Cove Campground sits on the banks of Pat Mayse Lake in the Red River Basin of northeast Texas. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this established campground provides 85 campsites, the majority offering 30-amp electric service and water hookups. Site types range from tent-only non-electric sites to standard electric sites and a group shelter that accommodates larger gatherings. Equipment length limits vary by site, with some accommodating RVs and trailers up to 60 feet. Pat Mayse Lake covers nearly 6,000 acres with 67 miles of shoreline, set among rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests dotted with mature pines. The lake is a popular destination for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers target largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass, and channel and flathead catfish. The surrounding lands support hunting for whitetail deer, upland game, and waterfowl, with the nearby Red River Bottoms drawing migratory waterfowl in impressive numbers. Note: This area was a military artillery range in the 1940s. Report any ordnance to park rangers or 911 if found.
