About

Sanders Cove Campground is located on the banks of Pat Mayse Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir in the Red River Basin of Lamar County, Texas. The year-round facility offers 85 campsites, most with electric hookups, spread across three loops. The campground sits among gently rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests studded with mature pines, providing both shaded and open sites. Pat Mayse Lake covers nearly 6,000 acres with 67 miles of shoreline, offering excellent opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers target largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass, and both channel and flathead catfish. An on-site boat ramp provides easy water access. The surrounding lands are managed for hunting, with whitetail deer, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, and cottontail rabbit present. The lake also serves as important habitat for migratory waterfowl, with the famed Red River Bottoms located just a few miles north. The campground includes flush and vault toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. A group shelter is available for larger gatherings. Gates open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. daily. Campers should note this area was a military artillery range in the 1940s; any ordnance found should be reported to park rangers or 911 immediately.

From Paris, TX, take Highway 271 north 12 miles to FM 906 W and follow it 1 mile to CR 35920. Turn left into the park following signs.
