About

Pat Mayse West Campground occupies a scenic stretch of shoreline on Pat Mayse Lake, a 6,000-acre reservoir with 67 miles of shoreline in the Red River Basin of Lamar County, Texas. The lake is surrounded by gently rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests studded with mature pines. The Corps of Engineers manages this year-round facility, which provides 88 campsites spread across multiple loops, with 83 sites offering electric and water hookups. The campground serves as a base for fishing, boating, and swimming. Anglers target largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass, and channel and flathead catfish. The surrounding lands support hunting for upland game and whitetail deer, and the nearby Red River Bottoms attract migratory waterfowl in impressive numbers. Note: This area served as a military artillery range in the 1940s. Campers should report any discovered ordinance to park rangers or 911.
