About
Pat Mayse East Campground is located on the shores of Pat Mayse Lake in the Red River Basin of Lamar County, Texas. This year-round facility offers 85 campsites with electric hookups spread across two loops, with A-Loop featuring equestrian amenities including horse corrals and adjacent riding trails. The campground provides pit toilets, drinking water, a dump station, and a boat ramp for easy lake access.
Pat Mayse Lake spans nearly 6,000 acres with 67 miles of shoreline, set among rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests with mature pines. The lake is popular for boating, swimming, and fishing, with anglers targeting largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass, and channel and flathead catfish. The surrounding lands are managed for upland game and whitetail deer hunting, with populations of fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, and cottontail rabbit. The lake provides critical habitat for migratory waterfowl, and the nearby Red River Bottoms are renowned for impressive waterfowl concentrations. Campers should be aware that this area was a military artillery range in the 1940s, and any ordnance found should be reported immediately to park rangers or 911.
