Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area sits near the summit of the Blue Mountains along Interstate 84, preserving a site where travelers on the Oregon Trail stopped to replenish water supplies. Today, the park offers a refreshing mountain retreat in a mature forest setting with diverse camping options. The campground features 71 sites including 16 full hookup RV sites, 31 tent sites, 6 cabins, and 7 horse camp sites. Full hookup sites accommodate RVs up to 55 feet with electric, water, and sewer connections. The park provides modern restroom and shower facilities that are kept exceptionally clean. During summer months, the park features historical recreations of Oregon Trail life from the 1850s. Located between Pendleton and La Grande at an elevation of approximately 3,800 feet, the park offers hiking trails through the forest, a basketball court, baseball field, and horseshoe pits. The setting provides a cool mountain escape with historical significance and convenient access from the interstate.
