About
Scaroon Manor Campground occupies a historic lakefront setting on Taylor's Point along Schroon Lake's western shore in the Adirondack Park. The property features 1,200 feet of shoreline with a sandy swimming beach, boat docks, fishing pier, and kayak rentals. Before New York State acquired it in 1967, Scaroon Manor operated as a private resort and was the filming location for the 1957 movie Marjorie Morningstar starring Gene Kelly and Natalie Wood.
The campground offers approximately 60-73 campsites suitable for tent camping and small trailers. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables. Modern amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, and recycling facilities. A picnic pavilion and day use area complement the camping facilities.
Scaroon Manor was specifically designed to be fully accessible to people with disabilities. The majority of campsites, all restroom and shower buildings, the shoreline trail, hand boat launch, and fishing platform meet accessibility standards. The 0.2-mile shoreline trail maintains a maximum 5% slope and minimum 5-foot width.
