Tallulah Gorge State Park showcases one of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern United States, where the Tallulah River has carved a dramatic gorge two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. The campground offers 52 spacious sites with water and electric hookups, accommodating RVs up to 50 feet in length. Sites include picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and access to modern facilities including flush restrooms, hot showers, a dump station, and laundry facilities. Two sites are ADA-accessible. The park provides exceptional hiking opportunities with 20 miles of trails ranging from easy paved paths perfect for strollers and bicycles to challenging terrain including 1,000 stairs leading to the gorge floor. Free permits (limited to 100 per day) are required to access the gorge floor and can be obtained at the Interpretive Center. A suspension bridge sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, offering spectacular views of the river and five waterfalls. The Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center features exhibits on the area's history as a Victorian resort town, the gorge's geology and ecosystem, and an award-winning film. Additional amenities include a 63-acre lake with a sand beach for seasonal swimming, two playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic shelters, an EV charger, and opportunities for fishing, rock climbing (permit required), and mountain biking on a challenging 10-mile trail. The park is located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains near the Alpine Village of Helen and other north Georgia attractions.
