About

A.H. Stephens State Historic Park combines natural beauty with rich Civil War history on 1,177 acres near Crawfordville, Georgia. The park is named after Alexander H. Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy and later Georgia governor, whose restored 1875 home Liberty Hall is open for tours. The park features one of the finest collections of Civil War artifacts in Georgia. The modern campground offers 25 tent, trailer, and RV sites, all with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with convenient access to comfort stations and laundry facilities. Level gravel pads can accommodate RVs up to 50 feet. The park also features a separate equestrian campground with 29 campsites and 30 horse stables for riders exploring the 21 miles of horse trails. Beyond camping, visitors can enjoy fishing and boating on three lakes, geocaching, 4 miles of hiking trails including the partially paved Sunset Drive Nature Trail, and historic CCC-era buildings. The park offers lakeside cottages, group camps, picnic shelters, and a 10-acre event field. The park provides a peaceful retreat with both recreational opportunities and educational experiences about Georgia's Civil War history.
