About

With modern-day facilities amidst reminders of days gone by, Hamburg State Park offers a wonderful mix of history and outdoor recreation on 741 acres in Washington County. The campground provides 32 shaded sites along the edge of quiet Hamburg Lake, a 225-acre lake fed by the Little Ogeechee River. All campsites offer water and electric hookups, with access to hot showers and a dump station for RVs. Anglers can enjoy fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, and bream, with boat ramps and a fishing pier available. The park offers boat and kayak rentals for exploring the lake. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot turtles, alligators, raccoons, deer, and numerous bird species throughout the park. Hiking and biking trails provide opportunities to explore the natural surroundings. The park's centerpiece is the restored 1921 water-powered gristmill, which still operates and grinds corn during events. A museum displays old agricultural tools and implements used in rural Georgia, offering a glimpse into the region's agricultural heritage. Group and picnic shelters are available seasonally, along with a playground for families.
