About
Trap Pond State Park preserves the northernmost natural stand of bald cypress trees in the United States, surrounding Delaware's largest freshwater pond. The campground spreads across multiple loops on the pond's northern shore, with 142 sites sheltered beneath tall loblolly pines. Of these, 130 sites offer water and electric hookups suitable for both tents and RVs, while additional accommodations include climate-controlled cabins and yurts. Camping facilities are well-developed with modern bathhouses in each loop featuring hot showers, flush toilets, and electrical outlets. Coin-operated laundry facilities, trash and recycling services, and a dump station near the campground entrance round out the amenities. A seasonal camp store sells firewood, ice, basic groceries, camping gear, and fishing tackle. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The park is a paddler's paradise with over nine miles of water trails winding through the atmospheric bald cypress swamp. Canoe, kayak, and paddleboat rentals are available, along with guided pontoon tours. Hiking and biking trails, fishing opportunities, a nature center, and family programs including wagon rides and campground crafts make this an excellent base for exploring Delaware's Delmarva Peninsula.
Directions
