Falling below 25% by early afternoon. * Temperatures... 30s to 40s. * Impacts... With elevated winds and low relative humidities, extremely dangerous fire weather conditions are possible.

About
R. Shaefer Heard Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the southern shore of West Point Lake, which spans the Georgia-Alabama state line along the Chattahoochee River. The 35-mile lake features 525 miles of shoreline surrounded by rolling fields and deep forests that display outstanding fall foliage. The campground offers 117 campsites, all equipped with electric and water hookups. Amenities include a dump station, coin-operated laundry facilities, hot showers, a boat ramp for lake access, and hiking trails that wind through the forested landscape and along the lake. Some sites feature wooden decks and many are situated directly on the water. West Point Lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, with abundant populations of bass, catfish, crappie and bream. The lake's dozen creeks and more than 40 square miles of water provide numerous fishing spots. Boating is extremely popular, with 34 public boat ramps around the lake and two full-service marinas. A 10,000-acre wildlife management area at the upper end of the lake offers hunting opportunities and habitat for diverse wildlife.

From West Point, Georgia, take U.S. Highway 29 north for 4 miles, then turn left at The West Point Project sign and travel a short distance to a right turn into the campground entrance.
