A backcountry patrol cabin on shore of Quartz Lake
Closed

Closed for the season. Opens July 1, 2026 and operates through October 30. Sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. The campground remains primitive all season with no potable water.

About

Quartz Creek Campground offers the most secluded front-country camping experience in Glacier National Park. With only 7 tent-only sites, it remains in primitive status throughout its operating season, meaning no potable water is available and campers must bring their own supply. The campground sits in the North Fork area on the park's west side, approximately 5.7 miles south of Polebridge. Access requires navigating the Inside North Fork Road, a rough, dusty dirt road with many blind curves and few pullouts. This challenging approach filters out casual visitors and rewards those seeking genuine wilderness solitude. Trailers and RVs are prohibited due to road conditions and site limitations. Each site accommodates up to 8 people and 2 vehicles with a maximum of 2 tents. Amenities include vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, food storage lockers, and seasonal trash collection. Dead wood on the ground may be collected for campfires along the Inside North Fork Road from Dutch Creek to Kintla Lake.
