About

Kintla Lake Campground is Glacier National Park's most remote frontcountry campground, situated on the shores of Kintla Lake in the uppermost northwest section known as the North Fork. Located approximately 40 miles from the west entrance and accessible only via a rough dirt road, the campground offers tent campers an exceptional sense of solitude and rarely fills due to its remote location. The drive, while slow and bumpy, passes through the tiny community of Polebridge and continues another 14.3 miles to the campground. The campground features 13 first-come, first-served sites on the lake, each with a picnic table and fire ring. RVs and truck-trailer combinations are not permitted due to the long, narrow, and winding nature of the access road. Each site can accommodate up to eight people and two vehicles with a maximum of two tents. The campground is surrounded by trees providing shade and filtered views of the lake and surrounding mountains. During the summer season, a hand pump provides potable water and vault toilets are available. Primitive camping is available during shoulder seasons depending on weather and road conditions, though campers must bring their own water during these periods.
