About

Moose Lake Campground is a small, primitive camping area located in the Glacier View Ranger District of Flathead National Forest, about 35 miles north of Columbia Falls, Montana. The campground offers just 3 designated sites alongside a vault toilet, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a quiet, uncrowded experience in northwestern Montana's backcountry. The campground is free to use and provides access to Moose Lake, where fishing is a popular activity. However, campers should come fully prepared as no drinking water is available on-site. A food storage order is in effect to protect both visitors and wildlife, so proper food storage is required. Access is via the North Fork Road (County Road #486), then Forest Roads 316 and 315. Due to snow and road conditions at elevation, the campground typically opens in early July and remains open through fall. A 16-day stay limit applies.
