About
Isabella Landing is a trailhead in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests of Idaho, situated at an elevation of approximately 1,640 feet near Clearwater. The site provides access to Trail 297, the North Fork Downriver Trail, a 7-mile trail that passes through a Research Natural Area featuring rare plants and beautiful fern populations beneath old growth cedar trees, ending at Salmon Creek. While some third-party sources list this as a primitive camping area with several dispersed sites, the official USFS website describes Isabella Landing solely as a trailhead without overnight camping facilities. Motorcycles are permitted on the trail, but ATVs are prohibited. The area offers opportunities for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and nature viewing. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions with no potable water, toilets, or other amenities at the trailhead.
