Dog Creek Camp
Closed — Closed for winter. Most Forest Service campgrounds in this area close in late fall and reopen in late spring or early summer depending on snow conditions.
About
Dog Creek Camp is a primitive Forest Service campground situated in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Clearwater County, Idaho. This small, undeveloped site is characteristic of the many dispersed camping opportunities found throughout the vast 4-million-acre forest complex in north-central Idaho. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests encompass some of the most remote and rugged terrain in the lower 48 states, with over half the land designated as wilderness. Visitors to Dog Creek Camp should expect minimal amenities and be prepared for primitive camping conditions typical of backcountry Forest Service sites. The area offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing in a pristine forest setting. Given its location in the national forest, campers should practice Leave No Trace principles and be prepared for variable weather conditions and limited access during winter months.
Directions
From Mountain Home, Idaho, travel east on State Highway 20 for 35 miles to the turnoff for Pine/Featherville (Forest Service Highway 61). Travel north on Highway 61 for 23 miles to the campground.
