About
Punderson Shelter is located within Punderson State Park, which features Ohio's largest and deepest natural kettle lake formed by glacial activity over 12,000 years ago. The campground sits on historically significant land that was once a Native American village, nestled between Stump Lake and Punderson Lake. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities year-round, from fishing and paddling in warmer months to sledding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in winter, making it Ohio's premier winter sports park. The surrounding area features diverse wildlife including great blue herons, Canada geese, beavers, white-tailed deer, and great horned owls. The park's natural beauty is enhanced by wildflowers such as wild geranium, buttercup, and blue-eyed grass. Visitors can explore the historic English Tudor manor house built between 1929 and 1948, play the championship 18-hole golf course, or enjoy disc golf. The park provides a peaceful retreat with scenic views and access to multiple recreational activities for all seasons.
