Prairie Creek Campground occupies a scenic stretch of Woodruff Lake shoreline in Lowndes County, Alabama. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this 120-acre facility beneath moss-draped oaks characteristic of the Black Prairie Belt region. With 55 RV sites and 7 tent-only sites, all featuring electric hookups with 30/50 amp service and water connections, the campground accommodates everything from tent campers to large RVs. The waterfront location makes this a prime destination for anglers targeting bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. A boat ramp and courtesy dock provide easy lake access for boating, jet skiing, and other water sports. The nearby Lowndes Wildlife Management Area covers 12,500 acres and offers hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkey, hogs, and waterfowl. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, a dump station, and laundry. Family amenities feature a playground, basketball court, and picnic shelters. Sites include fire rings and picnic tables. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From Montgomery, Alabama, follow Highway 80 west for approximately 25 miles. Turn right on County Road 29 and follow the signs into the campground.
