About
Gees Bend Park is a day-use recreational facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, located near Alberta, Alabama on the William Dannelly Reservoir portion of Alabama River Lakes. The park sits along a scenic oxbow of the Alabama River in the historic Gees Bend area of Wilcox County. The main feature is a reservable group shelter equipped with electric (15 amp) and water hookups, available through Recreation.gov. The facility includes a boat ramp for accessing the reservoir, a playground for families, and picnic areas. The park closes at sunset, and the shelter rental requires groups to clean up and vacate by closing time. Excessive noise, water slides, and water balloons are prohibited. Gees Bend Park serves as a convenient access point to the Alabama River and is located near the north ferry terminal for the Gees Bend Ferry. The area is known for its riparian woodlands, which attract songbirds during migration seasons, and provides river access for paddlers and anglers exploring Alabama River Lakes.
Directions
Gees Bend Park is accessible via County Road 29 in Boykin, Alabama. Alternatively, visitors can take the Gee's Bend Ferry from Camden, which operates Monday through Saturday with multiple departures daily.
