At 342 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 3 miles southwest of Dannelly Reservoir to Shawnee. Movement was north at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Thomasville, Pine Hill, and Yellow Bluff.

Gees Bend Park is a day-use recreation area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, located on the William "Bill" Dannelly Reservoir portion of Alabama River Lakes near the historic community of Gee's Bend in Wilcox County, Alabama. The park provides water access to the Alabama River system via its boat ramp. Facilities include a reservable group shelter with electric hookup suitable for family reunions and group gatherings, a playground, picnic area, and designated parking. The group shelter can be reserved through Recreation.gov. All visitors must vacate by sunset as no overnight stays are permitted. The surrounding Gee's Bend community is renowned for its quilting tradition, recognized as an important piece of American folk art heritage. Nearby camping options for those seeking overnight accommodations include Chilatchee Creek and Millers Ferry, both USACE facilities on Alabama River Lakes.

Directions

Gees Bend Park is accessible via County Road 29 in Boykin, Alabama. Alternatively, visitors can take the Gee's Bend Ferry from Camden, which operates Monday through Saturday with multiple departures daily.
