Holy Ground Shelters
Open seasonally from May 15 through September 2. Park hours are 7am to 7pm daily. This is a day-use only facility with group shelter rentals; no overnight camping is permitted.
About
Holy Ground Battlefield Park is a scenic day-use recreation area operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Lowndes County, Alabama. The park sits along the Alabama River at the historic site of an 1813 skirmish between U.S. soldiers aided by Choctaws and Red Stick Creek Indians. The facility offers group shelters available for daily rental, complete with electricity. On-site amenities include restrooms, a shower house, a beach swimming area, bank fishing access, hiking trails, and picnic areas. This is strictly a day-use park with no overnight camping permitted. Alcohol is prohibited in the park. No amplified audio devices are allowed, and visitors must park in designated areas only. Activities beyond routine picnicking require a special events permit. Shelter reservations must be booked in advance through Recreation.gov, and no refunds are issued for cancellations.
