Bridgeport Beach Shelter
The shelter is currently closed but reopens May 15, 2026. The facility operates seasonally from April 1 through Labor Day. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping permitted.
About
Bridgeport Beach Shelter is a seasonal day-use recreation area located on the William "Bill" Dannelly section of the Alabama River, approximately 4 miles northeast of Camden in Wilcox County, Alabama. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District, the facility features a designated swimming area with a sandy beach, surrounded by picnic tables and a large grassy lawn. The highlight of the facility is a picnic pavilion that offers group picnicking opportunities with scenic views of the lake. The shelter has electrical hookups (15 available) and water service for pavilion use. Visitors can reserve the shelter for day-use events, with check-in at 8:00 AM and check-out at 7:00 PM. Note that this is NOT an overnight campground. Bridgeport Beach is exclusively a day-use facility. All visitors must pay a use fee and display a valid pass on their vehicle dashboard or mobile device.
