The following message is transmitted on behalf of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division, and the Wyoming Department of Health. * WHAT...Air Quality Alert for Wildfire Smoke. * WHERE...All of Western and Central Wyoming * WHEN...Now through Noon Monday. * IMPACTS...Smoke from western United States wildfires continues to be observed across much of western and central Wyoming. The smoke is limiting visibilities at times. HEALTH INFORMATION...The Wyoming Department of Health recommends that the elderly, young children, and individuals with respiratory problems avoid excessive physical exertion and minimize outdoor activities during this time. Wildfire smoke is made up of a variety of pollutants, including particulate matter and ozone, which can cause respiratory health effects. Although these people are most susceptible to health impacts, the Department of Health also advises that everyone should avoid prolonged exposure to poor air quality conditions. CURRENT CONDITIONS...The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division offers near real-time air quality data for Wyoming's monitoring stations and health effects information to help the public interpret current conditions. Atlantic City Campground sits in Wyoming's South Pass area, a region rich in gold rush history and outdoor recreation opportunities. Managed by the BLM Lander Field Office, this 18-site campground provides a convenient base for exploring the surrounding sagebrush country and historic mining districts. The campground can accommodate large recreational vehicles and offers ADA-accessible facilities. Amenities include vault toilets, fire rings at each site, picnic tables, garbage collection, and potable water when weather permits. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites cost $20 per night, or $10 with a Senior Annual Pass, Senior Lifetime Pass, or Access Pass. Visitors should be bear aware, as this is bear country. The area offers access to historic Atlantic City, nearby trails, and the Continental Divide. A camp host is occasionally on site during the operating season.

Directions

From Highway 28, turn southeast onto the old highway, then turn south onto Atlantic City Road. The campground is located approximately 1 mile from Highway 28.
