Closed — Closed for the season. The park reopens for pavilion reservations May 15, 2026. Day-use areas including trails remain open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

Special Weather Statement issued December 29 at 1:04PM EST by NWS Burlington VT

December 29th, 1:04 PM — 1:00 AM

Temperatures will quickly drop below freezing this afternoon and evening. This will lead to any untreated surfaces quickly freezing. Sacttered snow showers could quickly coat roads. Use caution if driving or walking. Increasing winds this afternoon and evening could cause isolated power outages due to lingering ice loading on trees and powerlines. Wind chills below zero tonight will affect anyone still without power or outside.

About

Point Au Roche State Park encompasses 856 acres on the northwestern shore of Lake Champlain in Clinton County, New York. Most of the park remains natural and undeveloped, with a mixture of open meadows and forested areas. The large day-use area features a protected sandy beach, perfect for swimming during summer months, along with extensive picnic facilities. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities throughout the year. Boating and fishing are popular on Lake Champlain, with the park providing a boat launch and 60 designated mooring sites in Deep Bay. An extensive trail network winds through varied habitats including forest, marsh, and shoreline areas, suitable for hiking and biking in warmer months and cross-country skiing in winter. The park also provides access for ice fishing. The Philip C. Walker Memorial Nature Trail offers interpretive opportunities. The Nature Center operates year-round with programs for all ages and is staffed by park naturalists and the Friends group. Two pavilions, Lakeside and Cedar Hedge, are available for day-use rental and can accommodate up to 50 people each. The park is open from sunrise to sunset daily, making it an excellent destination for day trips but not overnight camping.
