About

Plowman Creek Campground is located on the west side of Whitney Lake off the main channel of the Brazos River in Central Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this year-round campground offers 44 sites spread across a landscape of cedar, live oak, and post oak trees on rolling hills above the lake. The campground provides 30 standard electric sites with water and 30-amp electrical hookups (sites 1-7, 10-24, and equestrian sites 35-44) plus 12 water-only sites (8-9 and 25-34). All sites include upright grills, covered picnic tables, and ground fire rings. Facilities include two restroom buildings with flush toilets and showers, potable water, and a dump station. Boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking are popular activities on the lake. Anglers target bass, crappie, and catfish. Trail users can access the 12.5-mile Hopewell Trail directly from the park for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding north to Kimball Bend Park or south to Lakeside Village.
