About
Cedron Creek Campground occupies a scenic stretch of shoreline on Whitney Lake, positioned along the main channel of the Brazos River in Central Texas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this well-equipped facility featuring 57 campsites spread across terrain characterized by rolling hills and native vegetation including cedar, live oak, and post oak trees. The campground caters primarily to RV and trailer camping with all sites offering water hookups and electric service. The majority of sites provide 30-amp electric while 10 sites are equipped with 50-amp service for larger rigs. Each campsite includes either a stand-up BBQ cooker or a ground cooker/fire ring. Three restroom buildings with showers serve the campground, and a dump station is available on-site. Whitney Lake offers excellent recreational opportunities including boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. Anglers target bass, crappie, and catfish. A boat ramp provides direct lake access. The nearby 12.5-mile Hopewell Trail accommodates hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, connecting north to Kimball Bend Park or south to Lakeside Village.
Directions
From I-35 in Hillsboro, take HWY 22 west for 12 miles to Whitney. At Whitney, take HWY 933 north for 3 miles, turn left on FM 1713 and cross the bridge over the lake. Cedron Creek is the first road on the left. Follow signs into the campground.
