About

Lofers Bend East Campground is an Army Corps of Engineers facility located on Whitney Lake on the Brazos River in Central Texas. The campground features 66 well-maintained campsites spread across rolling hills covered with cedar, live oak, and post oak trees. Six sites (33-38) offer water-only hookups, while the remaining 60 sites include both water and 30 amp electrical service. All campsites are equipped with either an upright BBQ cooker or a ground fire ring. The park provides modern amenities including three restrooms with hot showers, a trailer dump station, and two boat ramps. One ramp is a double-lane facility with ample parking, while the other is a shallow single-lane ramp. A group camping area with eight electric sites and a pavilion is available for larger gatherings. Whitney Lake offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. Anglers can target various species of bass, crappie, and catfish. The park's oak-savannah landscape provides habitat for deer and other wildlife. Park gates open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m., with a night exit available for campers.

Directions

From I-35 in Hillsboro, take Highway 22 west 12 miles to Whitney. Continue 7 miles past Whitney and turn right before the dam. Follow the park road to the 4-way stop and turn right to go to East Lofers.
