About

Pless Place Overnight Hunt Camp is a primitive camping facility situated in the remote Richloam Wildlife Management Area within Withlacoochee State Forest in Hernando County. This no-frills hunt camp provides a base for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts seeking an authentic backcountry experience in one of Florida's largest state forests. The campground features 11 primitive drive-up campsites, each accommodating up to 8 people with driveway lengths of 37 feet. Sites are reservable through the Florida State Forests reservation system up to 11 months in advance at $8.97 per night. The facility operates seasonally, primarily during hunting seasons, and is open through late April. Proof of a current hunting license or management area stamp is required for overnight stays. This is a true primitive camping experience with no amenities and no potable water available on-site. Campers must be completely self-sufficient. The discharge of firearms is prohibited on, from, or across any campsite, and generators must be shut down between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am. The Richloam Wildlife Management Area offers opportunities for hunting white-tailed deer, wild turkey, small game, and wild hog, as well as wildlife viewing, birding, and hiking in the surrounding wilderness.
