Cypress Glen Campground is located within the Croom Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest in Hernando County, situated on the shore of Silver Lake, part of the Withlacoochee River system. The campground is part of the Silver Lake Recreation Complex and provides convenient access just 5 miles from I-75 Exit 301. The facility offers 34 campsites with electric and water hookups, accommodating up to 8 people per site. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grate or grill. Maximum equipment lengths range from 20 to 60 feet, with most sites accommodating 28-40 foot rigs. One bathhouse serves the campground, and a dump station is located in the adjacent Silver Lake Campground. The campground allows a maximum of 1 RV and 1 tent or 2 tents per site. Withlacoochee State Forest spans across five counties and exceeds 165,000 acres, featuring diverse ecosystems from open pine sand hills to dense woodlands and canopied trails. The Withlacoochee River, Little Withlacoochee River, and Jumper Creek have all been designated as Outstanding Florida Waters. Recreational opportunities include boating, paddling, fishing on Silver Lake, hiking, wildlife viewing, and bicycling. The campground provides access to the Withlacoochee State Trail and extensive Croom hiking and mountain biking trails. Wildlife viewing opportunities include bald eagles, fox squirrels, gopher tortoises, white-tailed deer, and turkeys.

Directions

From I-75: Take Exit 301 for SR-50/US Hwy 98 S. Head east on SR-50/US Hwy 98 S to Croom-Rital Road at the 3rd traffic light. Turn left (north) on Croom-Rital Road and continue approximately 3.5 miles to the entrance to Silver Lake Recreation Complex on the right. Follow the road to the right for the campgrounds. Cypress Glen Campground is the second campground on the left in the complex.
