About

River Junction Campground occupies a scenic location at the confluence of the Little Withlacoochee River and Withlacoochee River, at the southern end of Silver Lake within the Withlacoochee State Forest. Located less than 30 minutes northeast of Brooksville in Sumter County, this 20-site campground provides an accessible base for exploring Florida's second-largest state forest. Each campsite features water hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring with a grate or grill. The centrally located bathhouse offers flush restrooms and hot showers. A dump station serves RV campers, though no electric or sewer hookups are available. Sites accommodate either one RV and one tent or two tents, with maximum occupancy of 8 people per site. RV lengths vary by site, with some accommodating units up to 45 feet. The day-use area includes a boat ramp providing direct access to Silver Lake and the river system. Popular activities include fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and wildlife photography. Pets are permitted when leashed and must have current rabies vaccination documentation.
