River Junction Campground sits at the scenic confluence of the Little Withlacoochee and Withlacoochee Rivers at the southern end of Silver Lake within Withlacoochee State Forest in Sumter County, Florida. The campground offers 20 sites that accommodate RVs and tents, with water hookups at each site, centrally located restrooms and showers, and a dump station for RV users. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grate or grill, with a maximum of one RV and one tent or two tents per site. The Withlacoochee State Forest spans over 165,000 acres across five counties and was ranked number one on the World Wildlife Fund's "10 Coolest Places You've Never Seen in North America" in 1999. The Withlacoochee River and Little Withlacoochee River are both designated Outstanding Florida Waters. The forest features diverse ecosystems including pine sand hills, dense woodlands, and canopied trails, with tree species such as slash pine, longleaf pine, cypress, maple, magnolia, and oak. Wildlife includes bald eagles, fox squirrels, gopher tortoises, white-tailed deer, and turkeys. Recreational opportunities at River Junction include fishing and boating from the day-use boat ramp, paddling the canoe trail, hiking numerous trails, and wildlife viewing. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the extensive trail system throughout Withlacoochee State Forest. Reservations are available up to 11 months in advance through Reserve America, with sites priced at $9.17 per night year-round plus taxes and fees.

DO NOT use Google Maps. Via I-75: Take Exit 301, head east on SR-50E/US Hwy 98 S to US Hwy 301, turn left (north) and continue to CR-656 (Croom-a-Coochee Road), turn left (west) and continue approximately 2 miles to River Junction Campground. Via Suncoast Parkway: Take TR-589 north to Interchange 46-SR-50, bear right (east) onto SR-50 through Brooksville, continue east under I-75 to US Highway 301, turn left (north) to CR-656 (Croom-a-Coochee Road), turn left (west) on CR-656 to SW 50th Blvd, turn left and continue south approximately 2 miles to River Junction Campground.
