Located deep within Withlacoochee State Forest in Pasco County, Meg's Hole Hunt Camp provides primitive camping accommodations primarily for hunters but open to all outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features 20 individual campsites in a rustic setting surrounded by oak trees and natural Florida forest. As a hunt camp, facilities are minimal and designed for self-sufficient campers who appreciate an authentic wilderness experience. The forest itself spans over 157,000 acres across five counties and was ranked number one on the World Wildlife Fund's "10 Coolest Places You've Never Seen in North America" in 1999. The area provides access to hunting opportunities within the Wildlife Management Area during designated seasons, as well as hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities. Meg's Hole Hunt Camp is accessible via CR-575 and Lacoochee Clay Sink Road, then south on Megs Hole Road. The campground operates under the Florida Forest Service and requires advance reservations through the state forest reservation system. This is an ideal base camp for hunters and those seeking a true backcountry camping experience away from developed amenities.

Directions

Travel south on CR-575 approximately 2.07 miles, turn east on Lacoochee Clay Sink Road and go east approximately 4.36 miles, turn right heading south on Megs Hole Road. Head south on Megs Hole Road approximately 0.55 miles into Megs Hole Hunt Camp.
