About

Pless Place Hunt Camp offers primitive camping within the expansive Richloam Wildlife Management Area of Withlacoochee State Forest in Hernando County. This hunt camp facility provides 27 designated primitive sites specifically for hunters, with each site capable of accommodating large groups of up to 25 people and either 5 camping units or 10 tents. The sites feature 37-foot driveways suitable for trailers and self-propelled camping vehicles. As a hunt camp, proof of a current hunting license or management stamp is required for all reservations, along with a valid driver's license. The campground operates under specific regulations designed for hunting groups, including restrictions on the number of sites per household (maximum two per season, one per reservation) and designated hours for generator use (shut down required between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM). Firearms discharge is prohibited on, from, or across campsites. Portable toilets are provided during hunting season only. The camp is accessible via Porter Gap Road and North Carter Pond Road, with detailed directions provided from I-75, US Highway 301, and US Highway 471. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance through the Florida State Forests reservation system. The campground may close at any time due to adverse conditions, and all facilities automatically close when Hernando County is placed under a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Warning.
