Friendship Campground

About

Friendship Campground is a small, primitive campground located in Blacksmith Fork Canyon within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. At 5,600 feet elevation and about 15 miles east of Hyrum, Utah, the campground offers a forested escape under shady maples with grasses and wildflowers dotting the surrounding landscape. The campground has 5 single family sites (8 person capacity each) and 1 group site accommodating up to 25 people. Each single site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and accessible vault toilets are provided. No potable water is available, so campers must bring all drinking water. The last 4.5 miles of access is via a rough, rocky dirt road where high-clearance four-wheel drive is recommended. Recreation opportunities include the Richards Hollow Trail for hiking and mountain biking which begins just outside the campground. Left Hand Fork provides fishing for wild brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The Shoshone ATV Trail System is also nearby for off-road exploration.

Directions

From Hyrum, Utah, travel approximately 9 miles east up paved Blacksmith Fork Canyon (Utah State Highway 101). Turn left at the Left Hand Fork sign onto Forest Road 245 and travel approximately 4.5 miles on gravel/dirt road to the campground. The road is rough and rocky; high-clearance four-wheel drive is recommended.
