Dewitt Picnic Area
Closed — Closed for the season as of October 5, 2025. The picnic area operates seasonally and will reopen in spring.
About
Dewitt Picnic Area is located in the lower part of scenic Logan Canyon, right along the banks of the Logan River in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The area is forested with massive 75-year-old black willow trees, along with maple and oak trees that provide plentiful shade throughout the site and create a beautiful autumn display. The Logan River flows gently past the picnic area, offering excellent opportunities for stream fishing, tubing, and canoeing. The area serves as a convenient base for exploring local trails, with the Riverside Nature Trail and Crimson Trail accessible from within the picnic grounds. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails crisscross the surrounding area. The picnic area is operated seasonally by a concessionaire and features restrooms during the open season. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and permanent cement or metal fire ring. Visitors should note that potable water is not available on-site and should bring their own water supply.
Directions
