Pines Point Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. Opens May 13 and operates through October 10. The campground is gated when closed, but the day use area remains accessible year-round without winter maintenance.

About

Pines Point Campground is located on the banks of the White River in the Huron-Manistee National Forest, offering a quiet and secluded camping experience surrounded by towering white pines and rolling hills. Several campsites provide scenic views overlooking the river, making this a picturesque destination for nature lovers. The campground includes both family sites and a dedicated group loop containing five sites, each with a capacity of 20 guests. Large groups can reserve the entire loop for gatherings. The White River is a focal point for recreation, offering excellent opportunities for tubing (a leisurely half-hour float around the peninsula), kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for trout, salmon, and sucker. The canoe landing is walk-in accessible. The White River flows for 23.6 miles on Michigan's Lower Peninsula and is a candidate Wild and Scenic River. The surrounding Huron-Manistee National Forests extend over nearly a million acres, providing extensive habitat for wildlife and numerous recreation opportunities. Nearby, hikers can explore the White River Special Area, a primarily non-motorized area surrounded on three sides by the river.

Directions

From Hesperia, travel south on M-20 for 1 mile. Turn right and travel west on Garfield Road for 5 miles. Turn left and travel south on 168th Avenue for 1.5 miles. 168th Avenue turns into Forest Road 5637. Continue on FR 5637 to the campground.
