About
Minnie Pond Recreation Area is a quiet, rustic campground situated on Minnie Pond, a human-made impoundment in the Manistee National Forest near White Cloud. The campground offers 6 campsites on a first-come, first-served basis with vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own or treat water from nearby sources. A foot bridge over Mena Creek connects the campground to a day use area with picnic facilities. The pond and surrounding area attract abundant wildlife including ducks, geese, and great blue herons, making it an excellent spot for bird watching and nature observation. The area is particularly popular with hunters during small and large game and waterfowl seasons. Recreational opportunities include fishing for warm-water species, motorized and non-motorized boating, and swimming in the pond. The campground operates seasonally from May through October and remains ungated during the off-season, though winter services are not maintained. No ORVs are permitted in the campground or on the access road. The site charges $10 per night with Senior and Access Pass discounts available, and campers should be prepared to pay with cash or check.
