Muskegon Channel State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. A federally funded walkway replacement project has temporarily closed a portion of the navigation channel walkway and adjacent parking lot through August 2026.

About

Muskegon Channel Campground offers 139 modern campsites divided into two distinct loops at Muskegon State Park. The first loop, sites 1-92, sits adjacent to the navigation channel walkway where visitors can watch boats transit between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. The second loop, sites 101-147, features larger sites positioned near a large sand dune and Muskegon Lake shoreline. All sites include electrical hookups with some 50-amp service available, picnic tables, and fire rings. The campground provides modern amenities including flush toilets and showers, a sanitation station, potable water access, and pull-through sites for larger RVs. A playground and camp store are available at the nearby Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park. The location provides excellent access to the park's three miles of shoreline, including two miles on Lake Michigan and one mile on Muskegon Lake. Visitors can walk along the accessible navigation channel walkway, climb stairs to the Lake Michigan beach, explore hiking trails through forested dunes, and visit the historic CCC-built blockhouse perched on the highest point in Muskegon County. The year-round Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park offers additional seasonal recreation opportunities.

Directions

Located 4 miles west of North Muskegon at 3560 Memorial Drive. From US-31, take the Muskegon State Park exit and follow Memorial Drive west to the park entrance. Channel Campground is accessed via Scenic Drive within the park.
