About

Pine Run Loop Campground is one of four camping loops within Lake Sherwood Recreation Area, situated along the 156-acre Lake Sherwood in Monongahela National Forest. At an elevation of 2,600 feet in Greenbrier County, this campground provides a complete family camping experience with access to diverse recreational opportunities. The area is home to black bear, coyote, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, red and gray fox, bobcat, fisher, otter, and mink. Each campsite includes a parking spur, tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. During peak season, flush toilets, hot showers, and electricity are available at the restroom facilities. In spring and fall shoulder seasons, vault toilets and hand pump wells serve the campground. No hookups are provided, but a dump station is on-site. The gravel parking aprons accommodate various camping setups, with some up to 20 feet wide. Recreation opportunities abound at Lake Sherwood. Two sand beaches connected by a footbridge offer swimming (no lifeguards). Anglers fish for tiger muskie, channel catfish, bullhead, bluegill, and largemouth bass. Only electric boat motors are permitted on the lake. Multiple hiking trails depart from the recreation area, including the scenic 3.5-mile loop around Lake Sherwood suitable for all skill levels. The recreation area also features picnic areas, volleyball courts, and a playground. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov and must be made at least 4 days in advance.
