About

Manzanita Campground is a small, year-round, tent-only facility nestled along the banks of Oak Creek in the spectacular Oak Creek Canyon. With only 18 campsites, this highly popular campground fills up quickly, especially on weekends. The campground is prized for its creekside setting, offering direct access to Oak Creek's crystal clear waters for fishing, swimming, and wading. The creek is regularly stocked with trout, making it a favorite among anglers. The campground sits in a lush riparian zone with Arizona ash and box elders, gravel beaches, and stream-bed boulders. Colorful songbirds dart through the trees, and wildlife watching opportunities abound. The scenery is exceptional, with the red rock formations of Sedona visible nearby. Each campsite includes a table, fire pit, and cooking grill. Due to the small size of the sites and narrow access, RVs, trailers, and motor homes are strictly prohibited. Only tents and small sleep-in vehicles are permitted. Manzanita is located just south of Slide Rock State Park, one of Arizona's most popular swimming destinations, and offers easy access to numerous hiking trails in the area. The campground is convenient to reach, situated just off State Route 89A with paved pull-throughs. Reservations are accepted and recommended, though sites book months in advance. Some sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground operates with a 7-day stay limit.

Directions

From Sedona, take Highway 89A north into Oak Creek Canyon for 6 miles. From Flagstaff, take Highway 89A south for 21 miles. The campground is located just off the east side of the highway, just south of Slide Rock State Park.
