The campground typically opens after Memorial Day weekend. It operates first-come, first-served for the 2026 season with no advance reservations. Handpump water is only available July through September; campers should bring their own water outside this period.

About

Pine Campground sits at 8,600 feet elevation in the Libby Creek Recreation Area of the Medicine Bow National Forest, just off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway (WY 130). This small but pleasant campground features 6 standard nonelectric sites along the banks of Libby Creek, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding alpine terrain and fishing opportunities. The campground provides basic amenities including a vault toilet, trash collection, and picnic tables and fire rings at every site. A shared water handpump may be available from July through September, depending on weather and maintenance conditions. Campers should plan to bring their own water outside this window. Sites can accommodate trailers and vehicles from 30 to 45 feet in length. Pine Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with cash or check payment required upon arrival. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM, with a maximum 14-day stay limit. Each site allows up to 8 people and 2 vehicles. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash.

Directions

From Laramie, take WY 130 west to the Forest Boundary near Centennial. Continue 1/2 mile west to Barber Lake Road on the south side of the Snowy Range Highway. Pine Campground is on the right.
