About

Nash Fork Campground occupies a scenic location at 10,200 feet elevation along Nash Fork Creek in the Snowy Range area of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. After being decommissioned for a decade due to pine beetle infestation, the campground was cleaned up and reopened in 2021 through a partnership between the Forest Service and Common Outdoor Ground. In 2023, the campground underwent renovations to improve accessibility, with upgrades to campfire rings, site paths, and ramps at select sites. The campground offers 24 sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Tree cover is limited due to the beetle infestation, but the open areas alternate with remaining wooded sections where Nash Fork Creek meanders through. The campground operates as a mix of reservable and first-come, first-served sites. No water is available on-site, and campers must bring their own supply. Located just off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway (Highway 130), Nash Fork provides access to extensive recreational opportunities. The area features 102 alpine lakes connected by an extensive trail network, with Brooklyn Lake located 3 miles north via Forest Service Road 317. The campground sits 4 miles from Libby Flats Observation Area and offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography. Black bear, bobcat, coyote, elk, marmots, moose, and mule deer inhabit the surrounding forest. Due to the high elevation, visitors should be prepared for cooler temperatures and may need to acclimate before camping.
