About

Aspen Campground sits at 8,900 feet elevation in Routt National Forest, approximately 22 miles southeast of Walden near Gould, Colorado. The 7 sites are situated in a scenic aspen grove along the South Fork of the Michigan River, offering a peaceful and primitive camping experience. Each site includes a fire grate and picnic table, with vault toilets and potable water available in the campground. The area is known for excellent moose habitat, making wildlife viewing a popular activity. Fishing is available in the nearby river. The campground provides access to OHV and Wilderness trails suitable for varying skill levels, from beginner to expert. Snow is possible even during summer months due to the high elevation. Directions

From Walden: Head east on Highway 14 for 22 miles to Gould. Take County Road 21 (Forest Road 740) for 1 mile to the campground. Follow the signs.
