About

Pillsbury State Park is one of the more primitive and lesser-known gems of the New Hampshire State Park system. Located in the foothills of southern New Hampshire, this heavily wooded park is sprinkled with several ponds and wetlands, creating diverse habitats that support a variety of wildlife including moose and loons. The park's 41 campsites range from standard drive-in sites to tent-only areas, remote walk-in sites, and canoe-in locations, providing options for campers seeking a true backcountry experience without modern amenities. The park is crossed by a network of hiking and mountain biking trails and serves as an important link in the 51-mile Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway that connects Mount Monadnock with Mount Sunapee. Popular activities include canoeing, warm-water fishing, picnicking, and exploring the historic remnants of Cherry Valley, a former logging community. With its primitive character, limited cell service, and wilderness feel, Pillsbury State Park offers a peaceful retreat for campers seeking solitude and nature immersion.
