About
Otter Brook Lake Recreation Area is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day-use facility located in Keene and Roxbury, New Hampshire, offering diverse outdoor recreation opportunities along Otter Brook Lake. Part of the Connecticut River flood control network, the 90-acre lake is surrounded by forested uplands, open fields, and river corridors that provide habitat for diverse wildlife. The recreation area features open lakefront areas, grassy spaces for team sports like volleyball and baseball, and shaded sites along the river. Visitors enjoy picnicking at numerous tables and reservable shelters (ideal for group events, family reunions, and weddings), fishing, canoeing, hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and an on-site disc golf course. The swim beach was permanently closed in 2024 due to water quality concerns and erosion. This is strictly a day-use facility with no camping accommodations. The park operates seasonally, typically opening in late May and closing in the fall. Nearby Surry Mountain Lake Beach, approximately 10 miles away, offers additional recreation opportunities including a beach, boat launch, and picnic facilities.
