About

Pigeon Creek Campground sits within the Black River State Forest near Warrens, Wisconsin, providing a classic north-woods camping experience centered around a man-made lake on Pigeon Creek. The 38 rustic, non-electric sites are spread through a wooded setting, offering shade and privacy. Three vault toilet buildings serve the campground, and potable water is available from hand pumps during the warmer months. A garbage and recycling center keeps the grounds clean. Water recreation is a highlight here. The sandy swimming beach is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days, and a canoe launch provides direct access to Pigeon Creek for paddling adventures. Anglers can fish the lake for panfish. Beyond the water, interpretive hiking trails wind through the forest, and off-road bike trails connect to the broader state forest trail network. The campground operates year-round, though winter camping is limited to a small number of plowed sites when conditions and staffing allow. Water systems are typically shut down from approximately October 1 through May 15. Reservations are required and can be made up to 11 months in advance through wisconsin.goingtocamp.com or by calling 1-888-947-2757. A vehicle admission sticker is required to enter the forest.
